You have probably heard or seen “Molly O” as the front person for Warner recording artists Molly & The Heymakers. After their single "Chasing Something Called Love" hit the Top 50, her country-tinged band toured from Africa to Iceland in the ‘80s and ‘90s. She is a powerful vocalist and plays multiple instruments including fiddle, mandolin, and guitar, and has also been known to sit behind a drum kit from time to time. Molly pours a lot of energy into her playing, and is always entertaining, even if it means sometimes turning the fog machine on until the drummer disappears, or singing the theme songs from every 70’s TV show.
By the late 1990s Molly was back home in Hayward, Wisconsin. She bought a downtown building and began rehabbing it over the next four years, eventually opening The Wine Cave in 2006, the area's first wine boutique. The next year she opened The Pavilion Bar upstairs, a live music venue with seating that extends into an outdoor courtyard. It was here that she began Molly & The Danger Band when she crawled onto a three foot wide ledge hovering eight feet above The Pavilion’s glass top bar. That ledge came to be known as the danger stage, which is where her then new band got its name.
In 2014 and 2015 Molly was doing a summer stint in the Big Top Chautauqua production "From Belfast to Bluegrass." The Big Top is an open-air, canvas tent venue in Bayfield, Wisconsin, that seats 900 for seasonal performances that are broadcast nationally on public and independent radio stations through Tent Show Radio. Several other musicians in the production, Tom Draughan, Liesel Wilson, Jed Malischke, and Bruce Qualey would soon form The TrueGrass Band. Molly’s now-rootsy Americana music was a good match (“Because there's an injection of Irish in it”), and she joined them for several engagements in 2016. “Music has been my rock during difficult times, and now it’s time to burst out again.”
Burst out indeed! Together with The TrueGrass Band, Molly is dishing up an eclectic mix of acoustic Americana, inspired by music as diverse as blues to bluegrass, classic rock to Celtic, Bill Monroe to Blue Oyster Cult, Marty Robbins to the Rolling Stones. Molly is also now diving into writing and recording new original music with more passion and a greater depth of experience than ever. “I’m ready to play shows and spread the word once again.” The unbeatable combination of Molly O & The TrueGrass Band will surely get the word out loud and clear.
Whether you have a small venue or large concert hall, a one act show or a multi band festival, if you want to really bring down the house, Molly O & The TrueGrass Band can fill your stage with great entertainment, and help you organize, promote, and stage your event.
